Theology of the Body

The body, in fact, and only the body, is capable of making visible what is invisible: the spiritual and the divine.” -St John Paul II
Why am I here? Who am I?
The Theology of the Body (in short known as TOB) answers these questions and many more as they pertain to finding happiness. Over five years, Pope John Paul II addressed these questions in his Wednesday papal audiences. Between 1979 and 1984 he gave 129 individual addresses that are now known as the Theology of the Body. His reflections were later published in a book called “Man and Woman he created them: A Theology of the Body.”
While difficult to understand for the average lay person, there are various helpful resources on YouTube and literature that can assist. St Luke’s Retreat Centre is in the process of offering Retreats on the Theology of the Body. When we can understand that God made our bodies to be a gift and the reasons why He made us male and female, we can find the answers to the other burning questions like: Who am I? Why am I here? How can I find happiness when nothing seems to satisfy me?
